WE GOT VISUAL SOUND STORE!!!

Sticker Spotting continued on Wednesday afternoon, this time in Courtenay at Visual Sound Store. The purpose of these events is to give you a chance to win a Panasonic home theatre system, which comes courtesy of Visual Sound. Basically, you put the sticker on your vehicle, enter the draw, and wait for the draw announcement.

That was me, writing down some brilliant and fresh things that have never been said before over radio. Radio history is always made whenever my voice hits the waves. When I wasn't writing down brilliance, I was handing out free Dairy Queen meals or Blizzards. Thats why you always have to come to these Sticker Spotting things; I'll hook you up with DQ treats.

Vehicles are not necessary, as long as you put the sticker somewhere that is clearly visible, like this brah! Good luck brah!

WE GOT MINI GOLF!!!

There are only a few places that offer good mini golf in the Campbell River area. Miracle Beach Mini Golf offers some of the finest mini-golfing around, in a nice setting against the Oyster River valley, and close to some interesting shoppes. In near proximity to Saratoga Speedway, Miracle Beach Mini Golf helps create an attraction which is the Black Creek/Oyster River district, and also provides the Eagle cruiser crew with a place to challenge each other in a healthy and safe way.

Always an undesirable position, the player whose job is to take score is faced with the annoying task of having to pay attention to everybody's score, take score and play at the same time. Only few have perfected this position, and, like this gentleman above, use the golf club in the armpit strategy instead of placing the golf club on the ground.

Through the hedges, where I was situated at a table taking ballots for the Ten Weeks of Summer, a group of golfers waits in line while the first group is finishing their hole.

Miracle Beach Mini Golf and Internet Cafe is located about halfway between Campbell River and Courtenay on the Old Island Highway, near the Hamm Road intersection. They provide a challenging 18 hole course as well as fine dining, ice cream and good coffee.

The challenging 18 hole course has many obstacles such as this sawed rock. Cruiser Lisha exercises the length of the club rule when her ball became one with the rock. I ended up winning, big time.

WE GOT VANCOUVER ISLAND MUSIC FEST!!!

The Vancouver Island Music Festival took place during the second weekend of July in Courtenay, and was highlighted by acts such as The Wailers and Valdy.
According to many, The Wailers drew the biggest crowd of the festival, which was compiled of several stages, including the main stage below.

The laid back atmosphere of the festival allowed many people to lay their blankets and lawn chairs in front of the stage for a nice view, and many people prepared for the warm, hot and dusty weather with hats, umbrellas and a massive orange and red striped tent.

Inside and around the massive tent lay numerous festival goers, who took time to check out many of the amenities offered while bands switched on stage.

Lot's of business was conducted during the festival weekend, with vendor tents offering every type of clothing, many of which were unique, hand made pieces.

For those with expensive taste, and a knack to commemorate, symbolize or show off, jewelery had a big part in the festival, and was on sale in dozens of tents. The majority of these pieces are individually put together, and original.

The festival drew anywhere from 3,000 - 5,000 people from all over the World, and featured the best local talent along with several internationally recognized acts. What made the festival even better, was the ample selection of food and refreshments that were available; dozens of vendors took shop, and offered a wide selection of food from hamburgers to vegetarians.

The hot, dry weather the Comox Valley was subjected too in the weeks previous, made conditions extremely dry. Pictured below, Mike Lang looks for water.

WE GOT CANADA DAY IN CAMPBELL RIVER!!!

It was quite a day for myself on July 1st. Campbell River was foaming with activity, beginning early in the morning with a pancake breakfast in Willow Point, and ending with fireworks in Robert Osler Park.

After having some pancakes in Frank James Park bright and early at 8 in the morning, I made my way over to Shoppers Row and spotted some cool things, like this llama at a petting zoo.

Shoppers Row was transformed into a children's activity square, but as you can see above, some adults even found themselves roving about.

Around 11am, live entertainment began taking place at the children's festival, including interactive entertainment, which saw many people, young and old, being put into hilarious situations.

Here are some of the delegates from Ishikari Japan, who flew here to celebrate their 50th year as a sister city to Campbell River. They took part in many of the festivities, including a ceremony at Robert Osler Park.

The Rotary club set up a big tent and cooked hamburgers for hungry festival participants.

A future Campbell River business tycoon meagerly starts to build a name for himself on the shores of Robert Osler Park, while people started to pour in from all entrances to ensure a nice viewing spot for the fireworks, and to catch a glimpse of Ryan Mennie.

Even more impressive, is this real guitar, that was transformed into a Guitar Hero controller especially for the competition, which took place on the main stage. It was awarded to the winner of the competition.

Oh look there he is! Ryan Mennie awards this young lady with the Peavey Guitar. She also won a Playstation 2 and Guitar Hero game console.

This crazy guy really wanted to get blogged, so he stretched his body sideways and caught my attention. There was only one thing I asked for in return...

Now I finally know what it's like to be a hot dog vendor. Next up is hopefully a prime spot outside Wrigley Field.

I managed to sneak into the parade and get some awesome shots of the people who lined the streets between the community center and the Maritime museum.

Hundreds of people cheered me on.

People even put down their cold cut trios to say hello.

I bumped into this same guy later on in the evening at Robert Osler Park, where he continued to shower The Eagle with praise.

There are many perks to my job.

Being able to dip my head into huge cakes is one of them.

The para-troopers from Comox slid onto the temporary tarmac which was painted on the grass at Osler park.

Thankfully all arrived safely.

Before the fireworks began, and the festival ending, Campbell River's Canada Day committee took to the stage to thank the thousands of beautiful people who made everything possible by showing up and having a great time.

There was a heavy security presence. When your as big as Ryan Mennie, you can never have enough security.

Secret police.

Happy Canada Day! Love, Guy.
