WE GOT DRAMA!!!

Today was a workshop day for the River City Players, Campbell River's most well known acting club. There were refreshments along with hourly workshops that went over everything from lighting to acting.

WE GOT FARMERS MARKET!!!

When I got in touch with event organizer, Jim Chreighton, earlier this month, I had no idea how popular the Summer weekly farmers market at Discovery Pier actually was. Add fathers day to the mix, and you have a great combination.

The farmers market had everything from bellydancers to an anarchist's button den. The food was plentiful with two seperate mini doughnut vendors, popcorn straight from the kettle and souvlaki's. If you just wanted a burger or a hot dog, you got it.
In total there were around 30-40 vendors, and I discovered some cool things here, but my wallet might take a while to forgive me.
I couldnt escape before I walked away with local pepperoni from the Comox Valley farms, and freshly squeezed apple juice. Who would have thought there was a use for empty cigar boxes? I bought two of them. Hopefully I can find a use for them; probably end up using it as a sewing kit.
Adding to all the unique items and people I was meeting, was the beautiful and warm sunshine. Now I know why my dad told me Campbell River is gorgeous in the Summer. I think my hometown of Victoria is still dealing with temperatures in the mid teens. Campbell River easily eclipsed twenty degrees, and there were almost no clouds to be seen.

Anyways, this is an event I could see myself going to every Sunday. It was easily the most happening place today.

WE GOT ROCKS!!!

So it's 10 in the morning on a Saturday in Campbell River, and whats going on?

ROCKS ROCKS ROCKS, and minerals. This took place all day Saturday the 14th, and will take place again on Sunday the 15th at the Campbell River Navy Hall near the corner of Ironwood and 11th avenue.

On the advice of cruiser chick Lisha, I headed down there, expecting something, not so exciting.

MAN WAS I WRONG. CHECK THIS OUT.

Missy Elliot, Eminem, Snoop Doggy Dogg and Run DMC all displaying their finest rocks and minerals.

Clearly the good folks who put together this fantastic event knew how to connect with it's younger generation, something millions of people and organizations try to do, but never succeed in. Thanks go to the Ripple Rock mineral club for this little ditty.

These are some of the members of Vancouver Island's Rock and Mineral Club.

RAWR.

Beautiful hand made necklaces were available. Pretty much any jewellery you can think of was offered at a price, along with all the other demos and activities. If you are a rock collector and love minerals, this was the place to be.

Over and out from the rock and mineral show at the old Navy Hall in beautiful Campbell River.
COMING UP! A close look of the weekly Farmers Market at the Pier.
